God's Will

House conservatives have a direct line to God and can channel his innermost thoughts to the rest of us feeble mortals. Want proof? Here's what the Lord had to say about yesterday's gay Marriage Amendment debate:

Rep. John Carter (R-TX): "It's part of God's plan for the future of mankind."

Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN): "It wasn't our idea, it was God's."

Rep. Bob Beauprez (R-CO): "We best not be messing with His plan."

Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA): "I think God has spoken very clearly on this issue."

Think Progress has a nice video montage.

Here's the thing: I believe God speaks to us, in a non-hearing voices-kooky way. I think--even in politics--that it is OK and even courageous to mention this, with grace.

But when even George Bush has said he would support civil unions, the Gay Marriage thing is nothing but hateful pious political posturing--a completely empty gesture aimed at the ignorant. So fuck these poppinjays.

Yeah, that's the point, Bar. You're right. I don't think there's anything at all wrong with people having faith and looking to that for guidance on tough decisions. But when you use that sort of divisive rhetoric to promote a (doomed) piece of legislation in such a transparently political fashion is just unsavory. This Rove wedge politics at its worse and I truly think it's bad for democracy.

There is no god. Which is what makes these retards even more hilarious.

I wish I could laugh at them.

"I used to try to be amused. But now I'm just disgusted."

I'll just say, that with the keywords "Gay" and "God", this post is making for some really funny Google ads.
