This according to Bob Woodward, who says Bush made this declaration when he had key Republicans to the White House. Given Bush's sorry poll numbers, this may not be far in his future, but how sad is this for democracy when the President of the United States holds so little reverence for the will of the people?

His numbers aren't too bad...in the 40% range.
At any rate, this is the kind of thing people LIKE about Bush--he's "sticking to his guns."
At any other rate, withdrawal is not a good choice at this point.
