Peace on Earth Gets F You in Colorado

I don't own a home so maybe I don't know what the hell I'm talking about but I do not understand why people live in these Homeowners Associations. Don't we all live with enough rules in this world?

An AP story reports that a homeowners association in southwestern Colorado has threatened to fine a resident $25 a day until she removes a Christmas wreath with a peace sign that some say is an anti-Iraq war protest or a symbol of Satan.

In an odd twist on the idea of free speech--for which we're told our troops risk their lives to defend--Bob Kearns, president of the Loma Linda Homeowners Association in Pagosa Springs said that if he let this resident speak her mind he'd have to let everyone, and who wants that???

"Somebody could put up signs that say drop bombs on Iraq. If you let one go up you have to let them all go up," he said in a telephone interview Sunday.

Renegade peacenik Lisa Jensen said she wasn't thinking of the war when she hung the wreath.

"Peace is way bigger than not being at war. This is a spiritual thing," she said.

The association has sent a letter to her saying that residents were offended by the sign and the board "will not allow signs, flags etc. that can be considered divisive." Of course, ALL flags of nationality are divisive, that's the point; WE are Americans!

So the residents of Loma Linda better throw out their Peace on Earth banners and pitch their Support the Troops ribbons. We got RULES in this country!

Wanna bet these whiners are the same people who want the 10 Commandments etched in stone in our courthouses?

I hate homeowners' associations with a passion. Fucking good-for-nothing anti-privacy anti-liberty buttinskis in the guise of "protecting property values."

I've read that it was outvoted by the association but the president of it basically vetoed the vote. Clearly it is he that has the issue, not the association.

It seems as though these associations are a good way for small time hoods to vent their personal issues under the guise of doing it for the betterment of their "community".

My guess is that she'll win. And the president of the association will be removed soon. What a bunch of nonesense.

This just in:

Apparently, or friends in Colorado have decided to give peace a chance after all...

In suburban areas planned and gated communities are a way of buying your way into segregation. They insure that the people in your neighborhood are of similar income, race and mentality. No need to worry about the neighbors when the neighbors are just like you....or so you hope.

In this instance a fucking communist hippie scumbag somehow made it into the confines of Gods Country.

I have no sympathy for people who complain after they've signed on to be a soldier in suburban aparteid.

Fuck her. She asked for it and now she's got it. d

So, if she was raped and was wearing a short skirt, she was asking for it? And if she was raped and wearing pants, she was offering the rapist a challenge?

Not everyone is as intelligent as you seem to think you are sugar. Things change. Just because you sign on to something, doesn't mean you deserve what you get.

Your assumptions are arrogant and contemptuous.

And your analogy is fucking ridiculous. Read the contracts people! If you don't want to sign your life over to a Homeowner's Association, don't sign the papers! She should have known what she was getting in to.

Yeah, things change. Like, I signed a bank note, but suddenly I don't feel like making my car payments. I should be able to keep the car anyway. BS.

First of all, pretty much everywhere people of similar income live together. If you can afford to live on a beatiful piece of real estate, whatever your race or creed, you get to, and fuck any resentful person who says you can't or don't deserve to. And if something is in your way because of your race or creed, you can sue and win. That's how it works.

In this case you had a petty-minded tyrant who actually fired his board for not sharing his dumb-ass opinion. But eventually the good guys won.

Now if this woman was fighting because she wanted a dayglo house and the contract said "shades of beige only," then yes, that's tough beans, she can't complain. If the association said "icicle lights only," then again, she'd be screwed. So she wasn't up against any covenant, she was just up against the reptilian mind of a bozo.
