Gonzales Side-Steps "The Buck"
Big Alberto wants to take responsibility, he really does, but it's not HIS fault 8 US Attorneys got sacked for political reasons. No, the buck stops just short of HERE.
"My pledge to the American people is to find out what went wrong here," he said at a Tuesday afternoon news conference. "As we can all imagine, in an organization of 110,000 people, I am not aware of every bit of information that passes through the halls of justice, nor am I aware of all decisions."
That's true, he can't know everything that goes on in the US justice system, but he sure as hell knows what his Chief of Staff is coordinating with Karl Rove.
In a sad, limp mea culpa, Big Alberto tried to deflect the calls for his resignation.
"I am here not because I give up," he told reporters. "I am here because I've learned from my mistakes, because I accept responsibility and because I'm committed to doing my job -- and that is what I intend to do here on behalf of the American people."
So, he accepts responsibility but it's not his fault? Nice try.

Karl's mitts are all over this mess, he needs to step forward and answer some damn questions...he's got some 'splaining to do.
