An Interior Department official, slated to testify before Congress next week, submitted her resignation today.
Julie MacDonald, formerly the deputy assistant secretary for fish, wildlife and parks, is in hot water for her role in pressuring scientists to change research conclusions to support Bush policies, among other things. From the article:
MacDonald was recently rebuked by the department's inspector general, who told Congress in a report last month that she broke federal rules and should face punishment for leaking information about endangered species to private groups.
Another dedicated public servant... and another casualty of effective congressional oversight.
