Obama Overstates Kansas Death Toll by 1,000X
Yes, even the most articulate among us sometimes say stupid shit. This week it was Obama's turn. In a typically rousing speech, Barack Obama overstated the number of deaths in the Kansas tornado tragedy days ago.
"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died - an entire town destroyed,"
The actual death toll was 12. Obama spokesman Bill Burton said later that the senator meant to say "at least 10," instead of 10,000. Well, no shit.
But while this admittedly embarrassing slip-up has been getting major news attention, what is mostly missed are his attacks on Bush for diverting National Guard troops from their homes (it's called the NATIONAL Guard for a reason) to fight in Iraq. Or more pointedly, his implied bashing of front runner Hillary Clinton's initial support of the Iraq War Resolution.
"How could we have been involved in a war that never should have been authorized, that has already cost us half a trillion dollars," Obama said. (Bold added for emphasis—ed.)
Now, who is the highest profile Democratic candidate to vote for authorization and NOT say it was a mistake in hindsight???

well, it looks that obama has the tendency of adapting facts to his liking... I know it is just a slip-up, could happen to anyone, no one is immune to mistakes... but by 1,000 times that's sth else

Ouch. That's a pretty hefty overstatement. I'm surpised to see that come from Obama. From anybody, frankly. But it'll be ancient history in two weeks.
