For first time, Virgin runs on biodiesel

On Thursday, the first train in Europe powered by biodiesel (at least in part) had its maiden voyage. Virgin Trains, part of Richard Branson's Virgin Group, has modified a train to run on 20% biodiesel as a part of a six month trial. Branson hopes to convert all his trains, eventually, to a biodiesel blend. He has also committed to "spending all the profits from his airline and rail business to combat global warming by cutting carbon emissions." That's an impressive committment. He also plans to test a biofuel blend in one of his Virgin Air planes next year.
