NYT Ad: Impeach the bastards

In today's New York Times, there is a full page ad on page A9 that leads with the following headline:

2008 IS TOO LATE

Too late for what? Too late for getting Bush and Cheney out of office. So it's time to impeach. It's really a pretty potent ad, by an organization called The World Can't Wait. According to the ad, thosands of people have already signed up to support the impeachment effort, including notables like Daniel Ellsberg (leaked the Pentagon Papers to the New York Times), Ron Kovic (played by Tom Cruise in Born on the Fourth of July), Howard Zinn (historian), and Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine). And there are the usual suspects - Jane Fonda, Gore Vidal, Sean Penn. Even Henry Rollins.

Until recently, I've been part of that school that says impeachment is a waste of time, and will be too polarizing. But reading and hearing about the crimes of the Bush administration, day in and day out for years, has gotten to me, and enough is enough. Bush deserves to be impeached. He should be impeached. Will he be? I don't know. But I'm putting myself on the side that thinks and hopes that he will be. For the sake of this country and the world.

PS: Want a sign for your front yard that says "Impeach Bush/Cheney"? I just got mine today. Get one here. And contact your representatives, and demand that they begin impeachment proceedings.

Well, since Cheney has declared the Office of the Vice President a separate fourth branch of government, unaccountable to the other three, I'm not sure how those impeachment proceedings would go.

I keep hoping that Bush just forgets that he's preznit.
