The Cheney way: just don't call it torture
Believe it or not, I was listening to Rush's Caress of Steel as I was reading the second piece in the Washington Post series on Cheney. There's a song on that record called Necromancer, and it's actually a fitting description of Cheney. His office uses its power to twist the law to his own devices, with Cheney in the background, manipulating events through his minions, but not getting his hands dirty. That dirty, anyway.
I can't help but think that the accumulating record of lawbreaking by the Vice President and his office will move the Congress to begin impeachment proceedings. But Senator Dodd, and others, think impeachment is a waste of time. There's still a good chunk of time before this president's reign is over, though, with lots of time for Bush and Cheney to do more damage. All options should remain on the table.
