You may know Arabic, but you're too gay for us...

According to this article, the U.S. military has dismissed at least 59 Arabic linguists in recent years because they are gay. Which is shocking and infuriating, given the limited number of U.S. Arabic linguists in the military and their importance in the current state of world affairs. You may recall a story from earlier this week that the U.S. Embassy in Iraq only has a handful of Arabic speakers on staff. So we have Arabic language shortages all over the place. But apparently, the military is deathly afraid of gay Americans. More afraid of them than Islamic terrorists, I guess. Some of our liberal nutjob allies - like Great Britain and Israel - have fully integrated gay soldiers into their military forces, and - surprise, surprise - there have been no negative results. Still, warmongers like Senator John McCain (R-AZ) insist the policy makes sense. From the article:

For instance, candidate John McCain assured viewers during a presidential debate earlier this month it would be "a terrific mistake to even reopen the issue. It is working, my friends. The policy is working."

What an idiot. The good news is that McCain - or any Republican - is unlikely to get the White House in 2008. The Dems could literally run the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man as their candidate, and still probably come out on top. Come to think of it, it may be time for me to start a "Stay Puft in 08" movement. Who's with me?
