Gonzales Caught in Another Lie
Just when you thought the drums beating for Big Alberto's resignation were dying down, we get this headline:
Gonzales was told of FBI violations
After getting report, attorney general said he knew of no wrongdoing
This is in reference to reports of Patriot Act abuse within the FBI, including unauthorized surveillance, an illegal property search and a case in which an Internet firm improperly turned over a compact disc with data that the FBI was not entitled to collect.
While lobbying for renewal one of the most controversial pieces of civil liberties legislation, Gonzales told the Senate there had not been one verified case of abuse of the Patriot Act. This was six days after he was told of the violations.
Is that thunder I hear off in the distance?
