New state laws on sex education, marijuana, and tanning
July 1st marks the beginning of a new fiscal year in states across the country. So today, a lot of new laws go into effect. That includes a law in Colorado that bans abstinence-only sex education, and another in New Mexico that decriminalizes medical marijuana. And in Virginia, teens under 14 will now have to get permission from their parents before making a trip to the tanning salon. See a selected list of new laws by state.
