Blackwater Investigation Gets Surreal
Is Joseph Heller now conducting this war? Seriously, this shit is taking on some surreal dynamics.
Today, the New York Daily News reports that the investigators "will be protected by bodyguards from the very same firm" that they are investigating. "What happens when the FBI team decides to go visit the crime scene? Blackwater is going to have to take them there," a senior U.S. official said.
This, on the heels of Darryl Issa making veiled threats against Henry Waxman by stating that Blackwater would also be assigned to protect any congressional investigators, including Waxman, should such a trip be deemed necessary. Why the fuck can't the US military protect visiting civilian personnel in Iraq? Why would such a sensitive job be farmed out to mercenaries?
