More bad news out of Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto is dead. Killed along with at least 20 others at a rally. A tragic turn of events in Pakistan, and not a good sign for stability in the country.

So, I'm watching CNN coverage of the assasination and it appears that Bhutto understood the risks associated with returning to Pakistan and running for office. Basically, she put her life on the line by going out in public to meet ordinary citizens face-to-face because she felt that democracy was worth dying for.
Can you imagine George Bush walking the streets of Baghdad shaking hands with the ordinary citizens, risks be damned?
