In Orange County, CA, they've built a "microfiltration system so advanced it can turn waste water into drinking water." With a price tag of $480 million, it's the largest facility of its kind, and will turn sewage to drinking water for over 100,000 Orange County families. This Wired piece has cool photos.
According to the piece, the microfiltration is so effective, it will remove viruses and bacteria.
