He's winning their votes, but not their hearts. John McCain, fresh from a respectable victory on Super Tuesday, is now forced to beg his own party to rally behind him. He's mostly asking right-wing talkingheads to stop bashing him now that he's leading the race to the nomination.
"I do hope that at some point we would just calm down a little bit and see if there are areas that we can agree on for the good of the party and for the good of the country," McCain said.
I have a feeling dopes like Limbaugh and Hannity have a lot less interest in the good of the party or the country than they do their own ratings. That John McCain is not conservative enough (despite a long and solid voting record to the contrary) for the nut-wing faction of the GOP is the poisoned ground that Karl Rove fertilized in 2000 by painting McCain as a Red in cahoots with Bill Clinton (another faux-Liberal). Poor John McCain is getting fucked by George W. Bush again.
