Obama to McCain: You're a Pussy
Going after John McCain on his supposed strength Barack Obama put this whole dust-up over talking to your enemies in blunt terms: What are you afraid of?
Responding to McCain's recent attacks that Obama is naïve in thinking Iran is a lesser danger than was the Soviet Union during the cold war, Obama said:
"Here's the truth: the Soviet Union had thousands of nuclear weapons, and Iran doesn't have a single one. But when the world was on the brink of nuclear holocaust, Kennedy talked to Khrushchev and he got those missiles out of Cuba. Why shouldn't we have the same courage and the confidence to talk to our enemies? That's what strong countries do, that's what strong presidents do, that's what I'll do when I'm president of the United States of America."
In that last sentence, Obama just turned the tables and framed himself as the candidate of "strength," which will likely put McCain on his heels and in a defensive position. Anyone who still questions whether Obama has the political experience or the balls to run a campaign against the Republicans need only look at this pivot. Beautiful.
