Don't Start Celebrating Just Yet...

A new AP poll says it's tighter than you might think:

The presidential race tightened after the final debate, with John McCain gaining among whites and people earning less than $50,000, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll that shows McCain and Barack Obama essentially running even among likely voters in the election homestretch.

The poll, which found Obama at 44 percent and McCain at 43 percent, supports what some Republicans and Democrats privately have said in recent days: that the race narrowed after the third debate as GOP-leaning voters drifted home to their party and McCain's "Joe the plumber" analogy struck a chord.

These numbers, combined with the so-called Bradley effect and Republican vote purging, have got me biting my nails again...

While I would like to be cautiously optimistic, the Republicans haven't come this far only to watch themselves lose the White House to the workings of some goddamned democracy. Look for another party-line vote in the SCOTUS to hand the selection to the "proper" and "deserving" McCain after every Democratic vote is challenged/purged.

Hey there -- your wife sent me your website -- i love it. She and I went to high school together in our sheltered little town. But, i too escaped to the big city - just eastward. Love your blog.

Anyway - I'm in the same boat - don't believe the hype. Especially with the news stories about the electronic voting machines in West Va. and now tonight Tennessee, magically turning an Obama vote into a McCain vote. Seriously -- how hard is the old paper ballot??

*sigh* but, i am a little excited....secretly. ;-)
