Palin Cleared...By Palin
Trying to head off potentially damaging information from a state ethics report on her misuse of office, Sarah Palin released a report clearing her of all wrong doing. The author of the report? The McCain-Palin Campaign.
Palin is the subject of a bi-partisan legislative investigation into whether she abused her power as governor by firing her public safety commissioner. The commissioner, Walter Monegan, says he was dismissed in July for resisting pressure from Palin's husband, Todd Palin, and numerous top aides to fire state trooper Mike Wooten, Palin's former brother-in-law. Palin refused to cooperate with the coimmission as did several of her advisors. The official report has not been released but is expected later today. What does the campaign expect to come out that they thought it neccessary to pre-empt?

Well, it didn't go down exactly the way the AP called it, but pretty close, emphasis mine:
