Give a Republican Enough Rope...
The other day I lauded Georgia Republican Representative Phil Gingrey for having the stones to tell it like it is. Gingrey, in an interview with Politico, said that it is relatively easy for Right-wing blowhards like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, et al, to, "stand back and throw bricks," when they don't have to put the best interests of their party or the people first and that none of these guys is in any position of true leadership. Very right he was.
Turns out I was wrong. Gingrey really is a pussy. Gingrey spun a 180 faster than Karl Rove can spin the glorious virtues of the Iraq war when he called in to Rush's show to apologize:
Quoth Gingrey: "Mainly, I want to express to you and all your listeners my very sincere regret for those comments I made yesterday to Politico. I clearly ended up putting my foot in my mouth on some of those comments. I regret those stupid comments."

Bonus: Rush predicted that not one single Republican would vote for the House's stimulus package.

Pussy is right. I think this is hilarious and I love that it is making the rounds of blogs and political talk shows. The guy just keeps digging!

i'm amazed at how much press rush is getting for himself. he was so marginalized during the election. now he's front and center.
he's a bad comedian wrought with narrow-sighted self interests. he's a hypocrite and a racist. but bottom line is, he's a shallow bottom-feeding opportunist.
any chance the republicans could have to gain back some of the middle is quickly going away. good. they're burying themselves in the dirt. they are turning into a party of archie bunkers.
