Kwame Gets Back to Work

Just a week after after he was freed from a 99-day jail sentence for perjury, former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick seems to have landed a sweet job. Details are sketchy still but the Detroit Free Press is reporting that Kilpatrick is expected to be named to a new job in Texas with Covisint, an affiliate of Detroit-based Compuware.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said Karmanos told him in October that he was going to offer Kilpatrick a job.

"I haven't heard any details about what the job is," Patterson said Wednesday night. "But I walked away from the conversation admiring Peter's loyalty. It wasn't my place to question his decision."

Compuware CEO Peter Karmanos explains a bit, "We hired someone with a great deal of talent and a lot of charisma who will be an enormous help to us moving forward," Karmanos told radio personality Paul W. Smith during an interview on WJR-AM (760) in Detroit. "But he understands we won't take any, any additional stuff that happens."

I'd like to know if Karamanos is the guy who's going to tell Kwame "we don't take any more 'stuff.'"
