Special Olympian to President: Bring it on!

The President marred an otherwise pretty interesting appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno when he fumbled an attempt at self-deprecating humor by comparing his miserable bowling skills to being on par with what you'd find in the Special Olympics. Today, an olympian responds:

"He bowled a 129. I bowl a 300. I could beat that score easily," Michigan's Kolan McConiughey (KO-lahn Mc-KAHNA-he) told The Associated Press in an interview Friday.

Go get 'em, Kolan!

During the campaign for the White House in 2008, the media criticized Palin for being ‘common,’ and ‘not presidential.’ However, compare Sarah Palins attitude in this video created three weeks ago for the Special Olympics in Boise, Idaho.

You decide the more ‘presidential’ among them:

I won't get into a political debate on this one. I'm all for anyone supporting Special Olympics. Good for the Palins.

obama's comment was unfortunate and unacceptable. though, i wouldn't use this one instance to be able to raise into question who is more presidential. that would be a little disingenuous.

palin is a mother of a special needs child. she's speaking from a position of personal experience. it's great that she's looking forward to involving her son in the special olympics. i find that admirable. if my son was of special needs, i would want to give him every opportunity to have access to something as wonderful as the special olympics. as a father, i also want him to have access to better public education, better public health care, better after school programs, greater free choice on personal matters, and if he were to eventually grow up to be gay, i would hope that he could find true love and marry.

from the campaign trail palin invoked socialism and terrorism while speaking of her opponents. so, is it presidential to call your opponents radical socialist terrorist while seeking office? is it presidential to speak out of context and with malice at the core of your comments?
