The Republican-led House of Representatives voted this week to de-fund NPR (National Public Radio). Conservatives will surely revel in this turn of events as NPR has been a favorite target of theirs for decades. They hate NPR's reporting for its breadth and accuracy, its programming for its diversity, and they hate the idea that the taxpayers support it in any way, shape, or form, as they hate virtually everything else in the public sector.
While de-funding NPR might save as much as $90 million (or, not, according to the Congressional Budget Office), that savings would pale in comparison to any real savings to be had by taking a bite out of America's truly costly endeavors, such as the never-ending war in Afghanistan.
So, What would Ron Paul Do?
